I started the day off at the wetlands, taping a segment for the upcoming City Connections cable-magazine show that will be broadcast from our favorite wetlands preserve.
Here's a photo of host Natalie Rees taping a segment about the cabin park's pervious concrete.
And here's a shot of Natalie testing out the pervious concrete by pouring a bucket of water on the surface. The water just seeps through the surface just like magic.
Brilliant stuff! But you'll have to tune in to Channel 21 in May to see for yourself. Also pictured is Sid, working the camera, and Brian from Public Works, who brought the buckets of water.
Natalie and I (and Sid, of course) walked down the boardwalk a ways and talked about the boardwalk, the Friends, our work and our partnerships with the city and other agencies.
At the other end of the day, we have the Federal Way City Council meeting and the proclamation to create Hylebos Day! That's also brilliant! We'll be there with a number of friends. After the proclamation, we'll be back over to the office to hold an open house and enjoy some quality Hylebos time with the friends of the Friends. (Yoinks! We'd better clean the office!) Join us, if you get a chance.
