I took a quick visit to the park on Friday. I wasn't able to walk the entire boardwalk, but did snap these photos while there.
Some mushrooms starting to come up in the lawn by the Barker Cabin.
I don't know my shrooms, so if anyone can identify, feel free to post.
Also, nearby native creeping blackberry is coming in. This is nice stuff; better to see this than the invasive kind.
Here's a pic of the area behind the cabins. This is restoration in progress. You can see many of the trees & plants we have planted in the last 2-3 years starting to come in. This is future forest: visualize. Ten years ago, when I got started with the Friends, this entire area was a huge wall of Himalayan blackberry!
And, finally, a pic I took of the arch of trees overhanging the path on the way to the boardwalk. It looked to me like a gateway welcoming me to another world: out of the urban and into the wild! (and cool shade!!)
