Land Conservation Deal Sought
A coalition of conservationists are working to try to buy up to 3,000 acres of verdant forest habitat in the Skykomish Valley.

In other food-related disasters, despite now knowing beyond a reasonable doubt how many calories are in their doughnuts and burritos, King County residents continue to eat way too much. One visitor to our area summed up the situation in what could be a manifesto for all Americans:
"We eat what we want," said Damon Mayfield, of Colorado Springs, Colo., as he sat with a group of friends lunching at Ivar's. Learning that, say, an order of fish 'n' chips contained 606 calories had "not the slightest effect" on his choice, he said.
