Happy Birthday, Joe Strummer

402px401pxjoe_strummer_live Though he's no longer with us, I'd like to note the birthday today of seminal, genre-busting and genre-creating singer, songwriter Joe Strummer. The former frontman of The Clash and The Mescaleros passed away in 2002 of a heart attack at the incredibly young age of 50.

My life is powered by and guided by music, and Joe Strummer provided an integral part of my soundtrack. Tonight, in recognition of Joe's birthday, I'm going to watch the Joe Strummer documentary The Future is Unwritten (YouTube Trailer) and create a new Hylebos Joe Strummer playlist and play it until my ears bleed (not really 'til their bleeding. Get serious, Hylebotians!).

So, a Hylebos happy birthday to the late, the great, the one, the only, Joe Strummer.
