What, No Dinner Show?!

Work took me to for a walk to the West Hylebos this morning to talk with Michelle Martin of Woodland Park Zoo's education programs. We are discussing a possible field trip to the park by about 150 English language learner high schoolers in the fall. If it all comes together, we'll have docents - both from the Friends and from WPZ - to explain facets of the park to the students, answer questions, and expose the kids to conversational English...And, of course, the West Hylebos Wetlands!

This is something powerful that we can help facilitate with a little bit of support. I'm excited about the potential positive impact and hope we can pull it together.

The park, by the way, was beautiful. Lush, green and full of birds. Even the Kingfisher at Brooklake (and the one at Marlake - I think they're different) stopped to say hi (or more likely, get out of my park).

I want to extend a big thank you to Friends' member Chris Kelsey who invited Hillary and I to visit the Federal Way office of Kennedy/Jenks to share lunch and a discussion about the Hylebos and conservation efforts this past Wednesday. It's a big thrill for me to be able to get out and meet people in different sectors of the Hylebos Community and talk about Hylebos conservation work.

After Breakfast at the Kiwanis on Tuesday, and lunch at K/J Wednesday, I really felt like I should be wrapping it up with a dinner show on Thursday, but alas, no one invited.

That's it for me this week. I'm outta here. Be safe. Have fun. Visit the West Hylebos!
