Friends Wins Land Stewardship Award
It was an early start to the day, today. Skip and I drove down to Seattle at 6:30 for the annual Cascade Land Conservancy Conservation Awards Breakfast. We go every year and host a Hylebos table; CLC is a great organization and one that we partner with quite a bit. This year, we had extra incentive to be there to receive the CLC's Land Stewardship Award!
Here's Federal Way City Manager Neal Beets, Federal Way City Councilwoman Jeanne Burbidge, Me and Mike Hrachovec of Natural Systems Design showing off the award. I tried to get a photo with Skip and our CLC buddy Michele Connor, but the camera's battery fritzed out on me.
It was also a great treat to see old friends like former Hylebos Stream Team Commandant Katie Moller, now Seattle's Urban Forester; Katie's brother Jeremy Moller, my homies from NSD, Rocky and Nick, Tad Deshler from Windward Environmental, Colin Wagoner from Ridolfi, several of my board members: President Bob Roegner, Jim Burbidge and Margery Godfrey, and Friends' volunteer Anthony Huss. It was just an excellent confabulation of Hylebos conservationists!
I've got to run, but that's the news for this morning. You can now refer to us as "the award-winning Friends of the Hylebos."
Oh, and I should add, that the award comes about because of all the people I mentioned and supporters and volunteers like you HyleBlog readers - yes, all 6 of you.
See you on the boardwalk Saturday for Hylebos Day!

Well Deserved Kudo's Chris, Sheila, Hillary, Tamara and the Board of Directors!
A former board member and fan.
