Busy, Busy, Busy

Wednesday starts off with a meeting of the board's Fund Development Committee; this group will produce a comprehensive fund development plan that will guide the Friends in diversifying and strengthening our fund base. This work is critical to our long-term financial health and ability to ahcieve our mission for the next 25 years.

After that, I was jumping into grant proposals. I've got two that have to get done by Thursday - Friday I'm out of the office and won't be back until Tuesday. Together with a few other deadline-oriented tasks I'm feeling a little busy!

 

In the news, there's a cool experiment in the Big S (formerly Jet City, formerly Grunge City, and I just can't bring myself to call it the Emerald City), making shoreline walls into improved habitat for our young friends, the juvenile salmon (as in life stage, not attitude).

Our little cousin bog, the Bingaman Pond was featured in the Seattle Times, and there was mention of the work we've been doing there with Earthcorps.

Today's P-I has a feature on hidden publicly-owned open spaces in King County. Sounds like a weekend getaway or two is in store.

But there's somewhat disturbing (if you're the type like me, who gets disturbed when his world is falling apart) news from Antarctica, where a chunk of ice shelf has broken off. Scientist say that the cause is either global warming or
